UNDERSTANDING PUTTER LOFT & LIE
Proper loft and lie ensure your putter delivers the ideal launch angle and consistent roll.
Loft refers to the angle of the putter face relative to the ground. The correct amount of loft is critical to getting the ball rolling smoothly on your intended line.
- Too much loft can cause the ball to bounce or skid at impact, making distance control and accuracy unpredictable.
- Too little loft can drive the ball into the turf, reducing forward roll and leading to inconsistent results, especially on slower greens.
Lie angle is the angle between the shaft and the sole of the putter when it rests flat on the ground. This measurement influences how the face of the putter interacts with the ground through your stroke.
