PXG® underscores its everyday efforts to promote diversity and inclusion in golf with additional featured programming and discounted fittings during Women’s Golf Month

Scottsdale, AZ (June 1, 2023) – PXG recognizes that more women than ever are trying, enjoying, and succeeding in golf, and the company is doing its part to continue this momentum and ensure everyone feels welcome. During Women’s Golf Month, PXG is featuring its talented LPGA Tour players, celebrating its employees, and making a mark in the community through several key initiatives aimed at growing the game.

Premiering today, PXG pairs comedy icon and golf addict Rob Riggle with LPGA Tour Professionals, including Celine Boutier, Austin Ernst, and Christina Kim, for some core stimulating, performance-powering tips and tricks. Spanning the fundamentals to the game’s finer points, the nine-episode series, PXG Pro Tips with Rob Riggle: LPGA Edition, is available on PXG’s website and YouTube.

“We can all agree, the need to grow the game is no laughing matter,” President & Executive Creative Director of PXG Apparel Renee Parsons stated. “However, when you combine humor with golf PXG finds players have a bit more fun on the course and are far more likely to come back.”

LAUNCHING JUNE 1, 2023

  • Episode 1:  Austin Ernst delivers some quick warm-up techniques and shows Rob Riggle how to get more distance with his driver.
  • Episode 2: Céline Boutier walks Rob through her swing thoughts to achieve better tempo while Yu Sang Hou highlights her pre-round, driving range routine.
  • Episode 3: Gerina Mendoza helps Rob with his distance control, and Christina Kim gives Rob the lowdown on how to hit a fairway wood.
  • Episode 4: LPGA Rookie Elinor Sudow takes Rob through her swing philosophy and the benefits of using a blended iron set.

COMING LATER IN JUNE

  • Episode 5: Gina Kim explains the benefits of getting fitted for your driver and shows Rob how to control tempo with the big stick.
  • Episode 6: Jennifer Song teaches Rob how to gain more spin with wedges around the green and schools him on the importance of a proper grip.
  • Episode 7: Linnea Strom has Rob focusing on his rotation to gain more power and distance. Christina Kim takes him back to the fundamentals with chipping.
  • Episode 8: Megan Khang shares how to hit a consistent draw and adapt your swing when hitting into the wind.
  • Episode 9: Mina Harigae gets practical when practicing with alignment sticks, and Christina Kim loosens Rob up with some pre-round stretching techniques.

PXG is also continuing its tradition of turning its focus to the women who help power the company – 26% of its workforce – this month. Under the direction of Renee Parsons, every woman in the company, regardless of role or location, is given a paid day off to engage in a golf-related activity. The initiative is titled PXG Women’s Day to Play, and it will be held on June 5, 2023, with coordinated events in Scottsdale, London, and Tokyo.

Parsons shared, “We recognize that creating opportunities for the women on our team to experience golf is important to their day-to-day success and to growing the game at large. By looking inward, removing barriers, and creating a supportive environment, we hope to inspire interest and engagement and promote job satisfaction.”

Taking the company’s efforts a step further, PXG continues to help advance the game through its local retail and fitting studios and field teams. For June, all golf club fittings for women are 90% off using the offer code, “WOMENS90”.

The company also looks to help demystify the game for underserved students from diverse backgrounds through its PXG engineer-led Science of Golf programming. On June 26, 2023, PXG will host STEM Atlanta Women – an Atlanta-based science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) group focused on creating opportunities for black women and young girls in the area – at its PXG Atlanta Store. Through this event and similar ones at other locations, PXG looks to inspire America’s youth, from all backgrounds, to pursue STEM careers in golf and get involved in the game itself.

Short game, short game, short game! Have you ever heard the saying, “drive for show, putt for dough”? Although hitting 300-yard drives down the fairway is part of the game we would all like to master, the real score-decipher happens on the green. We asked former PGA tour winner, Mike Nicolette, to share a couple of drills using alignment aids that can better your putting consistency and distance control.

WHY USE ALIGNMENT AIDS FOR PRACTICE?

Using alignment aids is a helpful and easy way to help your golf game improve in all aspects of the game. From full swing to putting, alignment sticks are universally used during practice sessions to better their alignment, swing technique, ball flight, etc. PXG will be the first to express the importance of golf-game improvement using alignment aids. Who wouldn’t want to improve on their golf game this summer?

Pick up a set of PXG alignment sticks on the PXG website or at a retail location near you.

WHY PRACTICE PUTTING?

Putting is the part of everyone’s golf game that can change their bogeys to pars and their pars to birdies. Strangely enough, putting is one of golf’s least practiced skill sets. Putting doesn’t have the excitement that driving or hitting irons bring, but it is one of the most sufficient ways to shave off strokes gained during a round. Former PGA Tour Pro and PXG Troop, Mike Nicolette, broke down a useful drill to help your putting game become more consistent.

PUTTING DRILL FOR CONSISTENCY

  • This drill requires 3-5 balls
  • Find a flat surface on the putting green (you can use this drill with right-to-left and left-to-right putts)
  • Set up your station about 3-10ft from the hole
  • Set two alignment aids parallel to each other facing the hole for alignment purposes about an inch wider than your putter head width apart
  • Place your putter and ball in between the alignment sticks
  • Align your feet and putter-head perpendicular to the alignment aids
  • Keep the putter head “in the trough” as you practice these short putts
  • Begin the putting drill and repeat to gain better putting consistency

PUTTING DRILL FOR DISTANCE CONTROL

  • This drill requires 3-5 balls per station
  • Find a flat surface on the putting green (you can use this drill with right-to-left and left-to-right putts)
  • Place 3-5 balls at 10ft, 15ft, and 20ft
  • Place alignment aids 2ft behind the hole
  • Practice putting from each distance without going past the alignment aids
  • Repeat the drill for better distance control

PXG is no stranger to perfecting the best custom golf equipment that money can buy. Not only is that at the forefront of the company’s priority list but creating helpful drills and practices that better a player’s game is an important focus within PXG. Head to the PXG website or a local PXG store near to pick up a set of alignment sticks to help with your game.

Before diving into the specifics of the golf swing, it is best to learn the fundamentals that will help you build a more consistent and power-striking swing. We asked PGA Tour Pro Zach Johnson to share his thoughts on rhythm and tempo with his GEN5 Irons and how both are the foundation of a quality golf swing.

Want to see more swing tip videos like this one? Be sure to check out our latest videos for more golf swing tips, product reviews, gear launches, and so much more!

WHAT IS ZACH GAMING?

Like many of PXG’s Tour players, Zach Johnson has made the switch to the new GEN5 Irons to help him compete and put himself in contention week in and week out.

“Bold, sleek, strong…it’s made for long use and getting in the grass and letting it go to work” – Zach Johnson

Zach Johnson plays the PXG 0311 T GEN5 irons, 5-9

PLAY WHAT THE PROS PLAY

The GEN5 Irons have made their way into each of our PGA and LPGA Tour Pros’ bags this year. Not only are the GEN5 Irons the sexiest-looking irons on the market, they also have outperformed the competitor models year-to-date.

The 5x forged GEN5 Irons are engineered with PXG’s latest and greatest technology. Starting with the behind-the-scenes advancements, PXG has created an all-new polymer core that is featured in all GEN5 Iron models. The XCOR2 technology helps reduce the mass of the core which enables more weight to be positioned low and to the perimeter of the club head, creating unmatched forgiveness, increased face deflection, and maximum ball speed.

PXG also introduces a new Power Channel Technology that consists of a u-shaped corridor built into the inside face of the club to help increase deflection and bend while simultaneously creating better launch angles, trajectory, and ball speed. The Power Channel Technology is paired with the thinnest face in golf, which helps overall feel and mishits off the face. The GEN5 Irons include 5 tungsten weights with one adjustable large weight placed in the center of the club head to achieve the best weight for your swing.

WANT TO EXPERIENCE THE GEN5 MOVEMENT FOR YOURSELF?

Head to a PXG location near you and book a one-on-one fitting with a PXG professional and get firsthand experience with the GEN5 irons.Additionally, if you would prefer to be fitted over the phone or would like help finding the best fitting location for you, simply call the PXG Fitting Department at 1.844.FIT.4PXG.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to hit your hybrid farther and have maximum ball control with each shot? If you’re like us, we are all in. We asked PXG Troop and Teaching Professional Edgar Evans to share valuable tips on increasing the compression of the club face to the ball while creating maximum distance with your hybrid.

THE GOLF TEE DRILL

  1. Avoid trying to hit up on the ball while using a hybrid. This creates an inconsistent contact at impact and ball flight.
  2. Embed a tee into the ground and without a ball – take multiple practice swings while deliberately hitting the tee in order to get used to compressing the ball and swinging downward.
  3. After taking multiple practice swings without the ball – begin incorporating the same drill while hitting golf balls.

THE SETUP

  1. While setting up to the ball, make sure the ball is aligned with your leading collar bone.
  2. Have a wider stance than usual – this will help balance out your swing, so you are not hitting too high or low on the ball.

HOW TO HIT DIFFERENT TYPES OF SHOTS WITH YOUR HYBRID

Hitting different types of shots (aka shaping shots) with any club is a combination of both grip and foot placement. As Edgar pointed out, “Golf is a game of opposites. If I want to hit it to the right, I just take my left hand and I turn it left.” Opening or closing your grip is an effective way to help shape your golf shots.

It is important to understand that switching your grip often is not recommended. Please talk with a teaching professional in order to get expert advice on your swing.

ABOUT OUR 0311 PXG GEN5 HYBRID

PXG’s all-new GEN5 0311 Hybrid should be illegal for how many bombs this club produces. GEN5 Woods (Drivers, Fairways, Hybrids) are equipped with the all-new Full Aluminum Vapor (AV) carbon fiber crown for optimal center-of-gravity and forgiveness. The supported weight structure design positions our Precision Weighting Technology to the perimeter of the clubhead and anchors the weight ports to the outer wall. That sophisticated internal geometry helps produce an incredible sound and feel. The HT1770 stainless steel face delivers improved deflection for maximum ball speed and forgiveness.

SELECT YOUR LANDING SPOT | GOLF CHIPPING TIPS WITH CHRISTINA RICCI https://production-a-us-west-2-blog.pxg.cloud/the-range/videos/golf-chipping-tips/ Thu, 09 Jun 2022 00:04:00 +0000 https://production-a-us-west-2-blog.pxg.cloud/the-range/?p=4971

Transcript

Hey guys, Christina Ricci. If you want more pars, let’s make sure you’re selecting a land spot to land your ball for shots around the green. I find that most players attempt to do it, but then just when they’re over the ball and they take the club back, they focus on the flag. So, then the ball lands at the flag and rolls on by. So, you really got to understand the rollout for the club that you’re using. A sand wedge is going to have less rollout than, say, a pitching wedge. Rollout is once it lands, how much does it roll? So, you really got to select your land spots based on the rollout and the lay of the land.

The other factor is it’s a down slope, so the ball’s not going to go very high here. This is a tough shot. I’m going to aim more, a little left there, because I know the slope goes that way. I highly recommend if you have a chances to go down to the green, when you first get here and walk backwards so you can really see where you got to land it.

All right, I’ll take it. All right. That’s a tough shot. Now, I’m left with an uphill putt. All right. I want to put this leaf where I’m going to land it. Hopefully, it won’t blow away. It probably will. All right. So, I’m going to land it in that general area.

There are multiple approaches when it comes to a golfer’s short game and how one can effectively get closest to the pin. The stock chip shot is a widely used style of short game technique that produces a high spin rate with mid-to-high ball flight. Using this style of approach allows golfers to land the ball softly onto the green with minimal rollout.

It’s why we asked LPGA Tour Pros Mina Harigae and Katherine Kirk to demonstrate this helpful short game tip and how playing this style of approach will improve your skills around the green.

HOW TO HIT THIS SHOT:

  1. Use a high degree wedge (58° or 60°)
  2. Place the ball near your front foot
  3. Keep most of your weight on your front leg throughout the swing
  4. Have the clubface slightly open at impact
  5. Keep holding the clubface open through impact

EXTRA TIPS FOR BETTER TECHNIQUE IN YOUR APPROACH SHOTS:

  1. Preset/establish your weight before making a swing (this can be used in all swing types)
  2. Align your sternum and nose a couple of inches in front of the ball
  3. Keep weight placement and alignment throughout the swing
  4. Build an understanding of how much spin and rollout your chip shots usually produce; this will help a golfer comprehend their short game tendencies

There are multiple ways to get creative with approach shots. That is the beauty and craziness of golf. Understanding the basics and mastering this chip shot will propel you to learn more advanced chipping styles as you progress.

PSA – You should never play golf without first properly warming up your body! Although it might feel like you can just jump right into swinging the clubs and start making your way around the course, doing so can lead to injury, which will keep you off the course and away from your favorite hobby for an extended period of time. That’s why it’s important to warm up properly before taking part in any type of golf activity, especially when you’re getting fitted for custom golf clubs.

We checked in with Spencer Rattler, quarterback for the South Carolina Gamecocks, for some simple ways to warm up ahead of his fitting at PXG HQ.

Why Do Golfers Need to Warm Up Before a Custom Fitting?

Let’s start with why golfers need to warm up at all. Warming up helps get your body ready for an activity in several ways. Some of those ways include increasing range of motion, helping you gain flexibility and preventing injuries that can come from doing too much activity too quickly or without proper preparation.

Dynamic Stretching Vs. Static Stretching

Which is Better? Dynamic stretching gets your muscles and joints moving. It involves using your own body weight as resistance and includes movement stretches like lunges and arm circles. Static stretching is slower and uses your own body weight for resistance but does not involve movement. This type of stretching usually involves holding stretches for 30 seconds or more.

Warm Up When You Arrive for Your fitting

Your body is your most important tool on a golf course, and it needs to be able to move freely and fluidly in order for you to reach your full potential. To make sure that happens, you should warm up thoroughly and at length beforehand so that every muscle group can work properly.

Before you arrive for your indoor or outdoor club fitting, consider walking around the location, either the store or the driving range for a few minutes before you jump into the fitting bay.  Once in the bay, take your time and perform some dynamic and static stretches. Once ready, begin to swing at no more than 50% of your typical swing speed.  You can also use your clubs to hold a few stretches. A proper warm up will set you up for a great fitting and prevent any injuries.

Go Through the Full Range of Motion

Before you set foot on the driving range for your custom golf club fitting or swing analysis session, you’ll want to be sure you’re properly warmed up. A good warm-up will not only improve your performance during your session and prevent injury; it will also give your body time to adjust to its natural surroundings. Take at least 15 minutes beforehand and make sure to go through every part of your full range of motion: from stretching and ankle mobility exercises all the way through core activation drills.

PXG provides leading-edge golf equipment that is entirely customizable and suitable for golfers of all skills. Whether you are beginner or seasoned professional, PXG has made it possible for anyone to enjoy the game of golf. We asked LPGA Tour Pros Mina Harigae and Katherine Kirk to walk us through simple chipping techniques that can help improve a high handicappers’ short game.

What are Mina and Katherine Gaming:

When Founder and Owner Bob Parsons tasked our engineers with creating a wedge that would outperform our current Sugar Daddy Wedge, he knew it was no easy feat. But boy, did they deliver!

PXG Sugar Daddy II Wedges are 100% CNC milled to perfect every surface and curve for outstanding consistency. With two sole options that offer the ideal bounce for any turf condition and full face grooves that expand the hitting area, these babies take workability and control to a whole new level. Hands down, these are the most precise wedges money can buy.

Chip Shot Tips from The Pros:

Tip #1:

Go with your instinct! Many high-handicap players believe that they need to pull off the “hero” shot around the greens. Not only does that set players up for a possible worse second shot, but it also increases their chances of a higher score. As mentioned by LPGA Tour Pro Katherine Kirk, using a standard set up and regular pitch shot can easily save you strokes out on the golf course. Learning how the ball reacts off the club face and the spin generated each time will help players develop an accurate sense on where to land the ball for chip shots.

Tip #2:

Keep it low and let it roll. The bump-and-run play has stood the test of time for all golfers (even on Tour). Katherine Kirk mentioned an important part of learning to improve your short game, “learn to hit the high percentage shots.” We all are fans of seeing the high chip shots that take one bounce and stop on a dime, but that does not mean it’s the best shot to hit every time around the greens. A simple bump-and-run chip shot can easily take away unnecessary trouble and allow you to get closer to the pin.

Bonus Tip – How to Address a Bump-and-Run Chip Shot in 3 Simple Steps

  1. Place the ball towards the back of your stance.
  2. Lean the club forward (this decreases the trajectory of the wedge).
  3. Use your same chipping motion as you would in any other shot.

What’s worse than trying to get out of a greenside bunker? Fairway bunkers. With the release of our new PXG Sugar Daddy II Wedge, we asked PXG Ambassadors Alex Riggs and Elise Lobb-Dzingel to demonstrate a few useful swing techniques to get you out of the sand and closer to the pin.

PXG 0311 Sugar Daddy II Wedge offers unmatched performance and unrivaled consistency. With an all-new design and innovative engineering, the Sugar Daddy II is a force to be reckoned with.

What’s New About Sugar Daddy II?

Our PXG 0311 Sugary Daddy II brings new performance technology and aesthetic enhancements that will have your short game sharpened up in no time. Available in two gorgeous finishes, Chrome and Xtreme Dark – let’s check in to see what our new wedges have to offer.

Two Different Sole Options

With the Introduction of our new Sugar Daddy II Wedge, we now offer two sole options, the BP-Grind and the C-Grind.

BP-Grind: Designed for lush turf conditions, deep bunkers, and golfers with a steeper angle of attack. For the purposes of this test, you’ll see the BP-Grind powers through tough bunker lies like nobody’s business. The BP-Grind features a wider sole and a slight taper from heel to toe that produces higher bounce and maximum forgiveness.

C-Grind: Designed for firm and tight lies on the golf course. The C-Grind presents a narrow sole and aggressive tapered heel-to-toe design that allows skilled golfers to get creative around the green.

Full Face Grooves

There is no debate that catching a ball off the toe or heel is a shot we all unfortunately have in our bag of golf tricks. The full-faced, milled groove design on the 0311 Sugary Daddy II Wedge has made it possible for you to achieve more consistent ball contact and spin, even with off-center hits. With the milled grooves expanding to the perimeter of the face, you’ll feel greater confidence at address and enjoy improved results!

Precision Weighting Technology

The new Precision Weighting Technology presents swing weight adjustability during the PXG wedge fitting experience. The high toe weighting works to position the center of gravity (CG) in line with open face shots. This helps players to deliver greater impact consistency and overall forgiveness.
