HOW TO CLEAN & CARE FOR YOUR PXG CLUBS

Golf clubs are a big investment. To keep them squeaky clean and performing like new, PXG is here with some tips on how to clean and care for your clubs like a pro.

WHAT YOU NEED:

Old toothbrush or soft-bristled brush

Warm water

Microfiber towel

Chrome or steel polish

Clean cloth

Bucket and/or bowl

Non-toxic and gentle dishwashing liquid or soap

PXG 0311P GEN6 Iron

Irons & Wedges Care

The process for cleaning PXG Irons and Wedges is straightforward and fairly easy. You’ll need a soft-bristled brush, microfiber towel, bucket filled with warm water, soap or dishwashing liquid, and chrome or steel polish.

To begin, start by filling the bucket with warm water and adding a few teaspoons of soap to the bucket. Place your club heads in the bucket and allow them to soak for at least five minutes.

Next, remove the irons one-by-one from the bucket and use the soft-bristled brush to remove any dirt and buildup. (Using a toothbrush, or even a butter knife, can also be effective in getting into the grooves.) You can also use the soft-bristled brush to clean any perimeter and precision weighting on the back side of the clubhead. Once you’re finished, give the clubhead a final rinse in the bucket of warm water to wash away any lingering debris.

Lastly, dry your club with the microfiber towel, and pay special attention to polishing and shining the sole of the club.

Woods & Putter Care

For your PXG Fairways and Hybrids, the cleaning process is different as these types of clubs should never be submerged in water due to the metal they contain. You’ll need a soft-bristled brush, microfiber towel, bowl filled with warm water, and soap or dishwashing liquid.

Mix warm water and a few teaspoons of gentle dishwashing liquid or soap into a bucket or bowl and dip your soft-bristle brush into the mixture. Use the brush to carefully and gently scrub the clubhead.

Once you’ve finished, take your microfiber towel, and dry it thoroughly.

PXG Putters can also be cleaned this way, but should generally only require a quick wipe down.

Shaft Cleaning

Once you’ve cleaned your clubheads, you can clean the club shaft. This area is prone to dirt buildup and should not be neglected. You’ll need a damp cloth and a microfiber towel.

To remove any dirt, use a damp cloth to wipe any buildup from the shaft and dry it thoroughly with a clean microfiber towel.

Grip Cleaning

Many golfers overlook caring for and cleaning the grip of their clubs. Grips can wear down over time from use and an accumulation of dirt and sweat. To get that fresh and tacky feeling back you should clean your grips regularly.

To clean your grip, wipe it down with a damp cloth after you play and dry it with a microfiber towel. (Make sure the cloth is not too hot, as the heat can damage the grip.)

Storing Your Clubs

For proper storage of your clubs, it’s important to consider the climate of where you live. The trunk of your car may seem like the most convenient option if you’re a frequent player, but this can cause long-term damage to the clubs. Car trunks collect heat and constant movement in the back of your car may cause additional wear and tear of the clubs.

Instead, try storing them in a dry, cool area of your garage. If your garage is humid, it may be best to store them inside your home. Humid conditions can cause rust and epoxy breakdown.
